On a coastal Connecticut site we were able to get the clients’ cars undercover in case an occasional hurricane blew through and provide a place where their grandchildren could play outside of the “parent” home’s confines. The project is something of a 300-square-foot folly utilizing cyprus, maculated copper, mahogany, and sandblasted stainless steel. The wonderfully open space, designed mostly for kids, affords the shed functional versatility. The kids’ private space is the loft, specifically designed so that its height will accept the front end of the owners’ car while leaving the passenger ample space.
