INTERIORS
A 1970’s house was expanded to include this fully formed kitchen. Utilizing separate freezer and refrigerator 601R and 601F units by Sub-Zero as an integral part of the overall “landscaping” of this generous room, the cabinetry weaves trim, windows, appliances, and walls with light to create a unique blend of form and space. By splitting the two units, a large-scale piece of “furniture” could be formed, complete with niche and central oven – all reinforcing a local symmetry.

Solid cherry cabinets, granite counter tops and backsplashes, sinuous curves and careful detail conspire to make a double-island/multi-prep-space/multi-storage-approach kitchen that has a human scale. The desire was to fabricate functional furniture and integrate that furniture into the context of a Shingle Style renovation. The owner had an intense desire to allow for maximum flexibility of food preparation techniques and serving which no standard issue kitchen could approach. Millwork was executed by Breakfast Woodworks of Guilford, CT, windows are Marvin, floors are limestone.
